The Student Ministries @ Emmanuel Baptist Fellowship feature solid Biblical
teaching on Wednesday evenings and Sunday morning along with special events
throughout the year. The weekly program consists of middle and high school
Bible study classes on Sunday morning and an integrated Wednesday night
program in the gymnasium which features worship, recreation, games, food
among other things on any given week to go along with Bible study.
The highlight of the year is camp which will be held the first week of
August 2009 at Camp Ocoee in Tennessee. While at camp students will experience
inspiring worship and challenging Bible teaching as well as drama, leadership
training or hands-on missions projects. They also have the opportunity
to participate in different recreation activities including swimming, tubing,
and waterslide, whitewater rafting and hiking. Online registration for
camp will be available in the spring.
This past June our students participated in a missions trip as they traveled
to Tifton, Georgia to conduct a Backyard Bible Club, do service projects
for the elderly and others in need, and do door-to-door surveys in conjunction
with a local church there. We are planning on doing another missions trip
next June so check back later in the year for details.
In addition to these events, the youth also have Camp Frostproof during
the church’s Vacation Bible School for the children in the community. During
Camp Frostproof the students have a daily Bible study before having some
sort of fun activity afterwards. The youth also raise money by running
a concession stand during the Upward basketball and soccer seasons and
with an annual yard sale held in front of Foodway Supermarket each spring.
The other major fundraiser is the annual Club 52 appreciation dinner in
February where we ask people in the church to pledge any dollar amount
for each week of the coming year. This fundraiser has saved our parents
much money as we are able to keep costs down for events such as PlanetWisdom
and Summer Camp.
